Why Get Your Irish On?

Why Get Your Irish On? Because we’re proud of our Irish American heritage, right? And we’re not wallflowers at that party. There are 34.5 million Americans who claim Irish ancestry, including yours truly. When you consider that Ireland has fewer than 5 million people, we’re a pretty impressive group!

So how do you ‘show off’ your Irish roots? With T-shirts covered in cheesy phrases? The classic bar-themed shirts? Shamrocks, leprechauns, and pots of gold with rainbows? That’s the easy thing to do, and it’s what was in our closets. Then we decided it was time to retire our clunky T-shirts for something fresh. We’d outgrown the drinking-themed designs and were looking for something tasteful and interesting that we wouldn’t be embarrassed to wear around our kids.

We hopped on Google but couldn’t find an original design that we liked. So we decided to start a collection of our own.

We were inspired by our neighborhood of Beverly on the South side of Chicago. It’s a wonderful and close-knit community filled with Irish American families who proudly embrace their heritage. It’s also home to the South Side Irish Parade, which draws nearly 300,000 visitors and 15,000 marchers on the Sunday before St. Patrick’s Day each year. Here’s a picture of our family at the parade last year.

Our goal is to design T-shirts that reflect our Celtic culture, our mixed Irish-American experience, and a healthy pinch of South Side pride.

We’d love to get your feedback on our offerings–which shirts you like, which ones you don’t, and suggestions for what you’d like to see next. So please, shoot us an email and tell us what you really think.

Warmly,

Jim & Laurie
